We partner with fair trade certified suppliers to ensure that the farmers and seamstresses, who make your clothing, earn a living wage: enough money to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter, education and medical care for their families. They will also have enough to save for home improvements like a metal roof, a safer cook stove, or a wedding celebration.
Working with fair trade certified manufacturers ensures that employees who make our clothing have regular work hours*, medical leave, benefits and a safe, respectful work environment.
We would like to be able to call this normal trade.
*not more than 48 hours/week. 12-14 hour work days have been reported by human rights advocates as common among many non-fair trade employers.
